Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Bach 12CW Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 15.20 mm cup diameter with a medium cup and a broad rim that is rather flat toward the inside, the Bach 12CW offers an extra-wide cushion rim for enhanced comfort and support. Sharing the same cup diameter and depth as the 12C, it produces a brilliant, clear tone with reliable response across the range. The cushion rim design is especially beneficial for players who use more pressure, improving endurance during extended playing. The #10 backbore supports responsive airflow and focused projection, contributing to a centered and consistent sound.
