Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Bach 9B Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 16.05 mm cup diameter with a medium-deep cup and a medium-wide rim lowered toward the outside, the Bach 9B offers a comfortable and supportive feel similar to the No. 9. Its medium-deep cup produces a slightly darker, warmer tone while maintaining clarity and balance. Designed with player comfort in mind, it is especially beneficial for those with narrower lips who tire quickly, helping to reduce fatigue. The #7 backbore provides an open feel with broad airflow and strong projection, supporting a full, resonant sound.
