Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Blessing 14A4A Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 17.09 mm cup diameter with a shallow cup and a semi-flat rim, the Blessing 14A4A offers a large yet highly efficient feel designed for power and precision. Its shallow cup produces a bright, focused tone with strong projection, making it especially well-suited for lead trumpet and commercial playing.
The design promotes quick response and excellent upper register accessibility, allowing players to achieve clear articulation and ease in high-note performance. The semi-flat rim provides a balanced feel—comfortable enough for endurance while still offering the definition and control needed for precise playing. Often favored in jazz, marching band, and pep band settings, the Blessing 14A4A is an excellent choice for players seeking brilliance, projection, and efficiency in the upper register.
