Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Blessing 5C Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 16.25 mm cup diameter with a medium cup and a medium-wide rim, the Blessing 5C offers a balanced and efficient feel that makes it one of the most widely used transitional mouthpieces. Its medium cup produces a clear, centered tone with a lively and rich character, providing an ideal balance of warmth and brightness.
The slightly smaller diameter compared to larger models enhances control and response, making it especially approachable for developing players while still offering enough flexibility for more advanced use. The medium-wide rim provides a comfortable and supportive feel on the embouchure, promoting stability and endurance during extended playing. Commonly recommended as a step-up from a 7C, the Blessing 5C serves as an excellent all-around mouthpiece for concert band, ensemble, and general-purpose playing.
