Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Blessing 7C Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 16.20 mm cup diameter with a medium cup and a medium-wide rim, the Blessing 7C offers a comfortable, easy-to-control feel that has made it one of the most widely used mouthpieces for developing players. Its medium cup produces a clear, lively tone with a balanced mix of warmth and brightness, making it suitable for a wide range of musical settings.
The smaller diameter makes it especially approachable for beginners, supporting control, response, and consistency while learning proper embouchure development. The medium-wide rim, typically rounded and fairly flat, provides a comfortable and secure feel without being overly sharp, promoting endurance during extended playing. Known as a reliable “starter” mouthpiece that can carry players well into more advanced levels, the Blessing 7C performs effectively in concert band, orchestra, marching band, and jazz settings.
