Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Laskey 50ES Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 16.51 mm rim inner diameter, a 3.66 mm (#27) throat, an 8.38 mm backbore, and a very shallow cup depth, the Laskey 50ES Trumpet Mouthpiece offers a highly efficient and responsive feel with an extra-shallow E-style design.
Its very shallow cup produces a bright, brilliant tone with strong projection and exceptional upper-register clarity. This makes it especially well-suited for lead trumpet, commercial, and jazz playing where ease of high-range playing and quick articulation are essential.
The 16.51 mm rim provides a comfortable yet secure feel on the embouchure, offering a bit more room than smaller diameters while maintaining flexibility and control. The 3.66 mm (#27) throat combined with the 8.38 mm backbore promotes efficient airflow and immediate response, supporting crisp attacks and consistent performance in demanding musical settings.
