Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Laskey 50S Trumpet Mouthpiece
Featuring a 16.51 mm rim inner diameter, a 3.66 mm (#27) throat, an 8.38 mm backbore, and a shallow cup depth, the Laskey 50S Trumpet Mouthpiece offers a responsive and efficient feel with a clear, focused tonal profile.
Its shallow cup produces a bright, centered tone with strong projection and quick articulation. This makes it well-suited for commercial, jazz, and ensemble playing where clarity, flexibility, and upper-register support are important.
The 16.51 mm rim provides a comfortable and secure feel on the embouchure, balancing endurance with agility. The 3.66 mm (#27) throat combined with the 8.38 mm backbore promotes efficient airflow and immediate response, allowing for crisp attacks and consistent performance across all registers.
