Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Laskey 70B Trumpet Mouthpiece
The Laskey 70B Trumpet Mouthpiece features a 17.14 mm rim inner diameter, a standard #27 (3.66 mm) throat, and an 8.38 mm backbore with a deep B‑series cup. This cup produces a rich, full-bodied tone with depth and warmth, ideal for players seeking a powerful, resonant sound.
The deep cup emphasizes harmonic complexity and a broad, dark sound, making the 70B well-suited for orchestral, concert band, and large ensemble settings where a strong, expressive tone is needed. It blends seamlessly in section work while providing presence and clarity for solo passages.
The 17.14 mm rim provides a stable, supportive feel on the embouchure, promoting endurance and control. Paired with the standard throat and backbore, the 70B offers smooth, efficient airflow, responsive articulation, and a balanced feel throughout the range.
