Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Laskey 75B Trumpet Mouthpiece
The Laskey 75B Trumpet Mouthpiece features a 17.15 mm rim inner diameter, a standard #27 (3.66 mm) throat, and an 8.38 mm backbore with a deep B-series cup. This design provides a broad, resonant sound with substantial depth and warmth, well-suited for players seeking a powerful tonal foundation.
The deep cup produces a dark, full-bodied tone with strong core presence and rich harmonic content. It blends effectively in large ensemble settings while offering the depth and projection needed for orchestral and symphonic playing, as well as studio work requiring a warm, expansive sound.
The 17.15 mm rim offers a wide, stable feel on the embouchure, supporting endurance and consistent control during extended performance. Combined with the standard throat and backbore, the 75B promotes smooth airflow, balanced resistance, and reliable response across all registers.
