Cut for Sleeves
Bob Reeves developed his sleeve system in 1973 as a method for adjusting the annulus ("gap") between the end of the mouthpiece and the beginning of the lead pipe. This allows the player to "fine tune" the playing back pressure of his/her set-up. It also allows the player to use one mouthpiece on different instruments that require a different gap.
The correct gap can only be determined through experimentation as it varies from player to player, mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and instrument to instrument. Virtually any trumpet mouthpiece can be converted to use Bob Reeves sleeves. They are available in sizes #0.5 through #7 in half sizes. A #0.5 sleeve will give you the greatest gap. A #7 is the smallest.
If you have your mouthpiece cut for sleeves, be sure to also purchase the sleeves that you need. Trumpet Sleeves.

Description
Laskey 80C Trumpet Mouthpiece
The Laskey 80C Trumpet Mouthpiece features a 17.27 mm rim inner diameter, a standard #27 (3.66 mm) throat, and an 8.38 mm backbore with a classic medium C cup. This configuration provides a balanced combination of warmth, clarity, and projection, making it a strong choice for players seeking versatility across a variety of musical settings.
The medium cup depth produces a full, centered tone with a broad core and flexible dynamic range. It responds well to both lyrical playing and more powerful passages, making the 80C well-suited for orchestral, concert band, jazz, and general ensemble use.
The 17.27 mm rim offers a wide, stable feel on the embouchure, supporting endurance and control during extended playing. Combined with the standard throat and backbore, the 80C promotes efficient airflow, smooth articulation, and consistent performance across all registers.
